Completion of the 2nd Plant at »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Philippines
¨C Successful expansion of production capacity through the completion of three plants in Japan and abroad ¨C
On November 13 (Wednesday), »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Philippines (Cavite, Philippines, President: Shinichi Kimura) held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of its second plant, which for some time now had been under construction.The »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Group developed projects for building of new plants at two production bases within Japan (»ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Hirosaki and »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Yamagata) and one overseas (»ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Philippines) with the overall objectives of dealing with the issue of constricted production space, expanding manufacturing facilities in response to increased connector demand for smartphones and automotive devices, and establishing the groundwork for future business development and growth. As already reported, the new plant at »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Yamagata (Shinjo City, Yamagata Prefecture, President: Katsumi Watanabe) was completed in September 2013, two months after the completion of the new plant at »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Hirosaki (Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, President: Mamoru Okamoto) in July, so the completion of the second plant at »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Philippines concludes the »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Group's plan for building of new manufacturing facilities at the three bases.
These measures will enable us to capture the growing demand for smartphones and automotive devices and further improve our business performance. Specifically, at »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Hirosaki and »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Yamagata, domestic manufacturing bases, we will manufacture high value-added advanced small connectors with full automation and labor saving features, while »ãÓ¯ÓéÀÖ Philippines will strengthen operations for manufacturing of connectors and harnesses in response to the trends at various automakers to shift production to Asia and other districts.
